My Professional Background & My Passion for Photography

My love of art began at an early age, and I spent countless hours drawing pictures or sketching images.  When I reached the age of 14, I attended Mastbaum High School, which enabled me to study commercial arts for 3 years in addition to the standard coursework.  At the age of 15, I also began writing songs and poems to record my thoughts, emotions, and self-discoveries.  I loved all aspects of art and music, particularly the creative freedom and expression that each provided.

Notwithstanding my artistic desires, I took what many might consider a more conservative route and pursued a business degree.  While it was a difficult choice to make, that decision helped me become the first in my family to obtain a college degree when I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University.  To expand my horizons further, I also later pursued and secured a Juris Doctor from American University, Washington College of Law.  My education and work experiences have taught me many valuable lessons and skills, including the benefits of being highly organized and detail oriented, how to best analyze and tackle unexpected challenges, and the importance of emphasizing customer service above all else.

Like many, photography started as a hobby for me, but before long people began asking me to photograph them or their events.  Knowing that I was being trusted by these folks to capture some of their most precious moments, I sought to educate myself in all aspects of photography.  In addition to the many, many hours I spent practicing and studying on my own, I took classes and workshop with some very experienced and highly-published professionals.  I also became a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) to further expand my educational and professional development as a photographer.  Beyond my focus on all of the technical aspects of photography, I greatly enjoy the uniqueness of each event and every individual person I am privileged to photograph.

In addition to my love for art and photography, I would be remiss not to also express the love I have for my family.  My wonderful wife Ying has always been selfless in her support and encouragement of me, and it is with her love and understanding that I have been able to pursue my passion for photography.  We are also blessed to have our beautiful daughter Serena, who fills our life with joy each and every day.
